 Product Description

This vise came from a local college (CU Boulder) and was in very good shape before I started. The only problem was a crack in the swivel base. I looked for a good year for a replacement, I gave up and fabricated one out of a 1" plate. It is not original but in it's own way it is original, only one like it. The base now will never crack or break, plus it has a real smooth swivel movement. These smaller vises are should not be used to bend or hammer in any direction anyways.

I then fabricated a new handle, horse shoe washer, an new set of hard jaws cut the same way as the originals, and desgned a new set of swivel clamps to replace the 5/8 Acorn nuts that were original. I replaced everything that I fabricate for my Wilton Vise Part site. I made it quicker to swivel the base with the custom swivel locks and you can still tighten the lock downs with a 5/8 wrench. The original jaws were smooth and had a machined step top, so I replaced those to. The handle was fine but had a grind mark so I fabricated a new one with (Cold Formed 1144 CRS), I believe the best choice for handle material.  The knobs are made as close to original as I could do and are heated and  peened in place like the original handles knobs.

The vise was built in the mid to early 40's with a date stamp of 12-46. Subtracting the 5 year warranty that would make this built in 1941. Back then they had a issue with jaw screw locations and the jaw shelfs did not match on some of these early vises. These jaws were custom fit to this vise and you can see what I mean in the pictures. I would be happy to fit serrated or smooth jaws with a 20% discount for the jaws if you want. Just contact me.
